Foxton Borough Council.
Last night a special meeting of the Borough Council was hold at th# Library buildings. A All members' ware present except Crs Austin and Symons. The following resolutions were passed:— , ... Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Purcell That the Town Clerk write to the wharfinger drawing his attention to the feet that it is this Council’* intention to take measures to destroy rats in the Borough, and requests that the Government take Immediate steps to destroy rats at the wharf. Proposed by Cf Speirs, ssesnoso by Cr Baker That an advertisement be inverted in the MahawatV HiWW asking the residents to take immediate : steps to destroy all rats on their property and to burn same as a pfeguu precaution. , , . . Proposed by the Mayor, seconded , by Cr Hennessy That a house to house inspection be made by this Gouaqil together with the inspector efnulssncee and police of all back yards etc. on Wednesday June 4th. . » Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Robinson That this Council vote the sum of £SO towards the Coronation celebrations and erection of a town flag pole and any other memento to commemorate the occasion 4 - to include the erection of a Triangle at the south end of the Main-street in which suitable trees be planted. . Proposed by Cr Purcell, seconded by L Cr Hennessy That the thanks of the Council be accorded to Messrs Guerin and Jupp for one gift of timber for-,---* making a public Hag pole. Proposed by Cr Walsh, seconded by Cr Gower, That Mr Jonson be employed to make and erect the flag staff in the triangle at the north end of Main-street, and that Councillors Walsh, Speirs and Baker be a committee to carry out same. Proposed by Cr Purcell, seconded by Cr Hennessy, That the Reserves Committee take immediate action to have the triangle at the south end of Main-street put in hand.
