The Transvaal. RELIEF OF A GARRISON. The advance of the Namaqualand column has practically relieved Ookiep, in Little Namaqualand, north east of Cape Colony, where a British garrison has been besieged by the Boers for some time and has repulsed several attacks. Smuts’s Transvaalers destroyed sections of railway in the west, and demanded the surrender ot Ookiep on the 4th April. Colonel Shelton, who had, three weeks’ provisions for six thousayd men brought in the ivlesldip and Nababeep garrisons, but the Town Guard of Concordia refused to join, and it is reported they surrendered without resistance. The garrison at Springbokfontein made a gallant fight, but surrendered in face of numbers, who were ready to dynamite the blockhouses. Mr Prinsloo, Governor of Bloemfontein, who surrendered early" in the war, remaining on his farm on parole, was recently captured by the Boers.
