MANAWATU RACING CLUB’S AUTUMN MEETING.
The day was fine for the opening of the above Club’s Autumn Meeting. The course was in good order and everything looked at its best. Bookmakers were present in large force and appeared to bei doing good business. Mr J. M. Johnston, assisted by Mr P. Sim, got through his numerous duties, and was courteous and obliging to everyone. The Palmerston Brass Band played selections during the day. Following are the results: — Flying Handicap, of 60 so vs ; six furlongs.—Shrapnel Shell, 7st 71b, 1; Torowai, Bst 81b, 2; Chasseur, Bst 41b, 8. All started but Livonia and Convoy. Won by a long neck. Time, Imin 18 8-sth secs. Dividends, £7 16s and £4 12s. First Hack Hurdles, of 60 sovs; one and three-quarter miles.—Katoa, lOst 9lb, 1; Great Scott, lOst 71b, 2 ; Loohade. lOst 51b, 3. All started. Won comfortably by a length. Romney Lad fell at the second to last hurdle. Time, Bmin 30 Dividends, £2 18s and £1 7s. Manawatu Handicap, of 200 sovs ; one and a half miles.—ldeal, Bst 91b, 1; Motor, 7st 181 b, 2; Kahuwai, 7st 91b, 3. All started, x Won by half a length. Time, 2tnin 44seos. Divis dends, £5 Is and £2 18s. First Handicap HusDLagi, of 80 sovs; two miles. —Sudor, 9st, 1; Dr Bill, lOst, 2; Sylvanus, 9at, 8. All started. Won easily by a length. Time, Bmin 66secs. Dividends, £l7 6s and £2 18s. V" Hack Flax, of 60 sovs ; seven furlongs.—Anchorite, Bst 6lb, 1; Dexterity, Bst 81b, 2; Turanganui, 7at 61b, 8. Hardwork was the only on* scratched. Won all oat by a length. Time, Imin 84 8-6th secs.- Dividends, £l9 16s and £2 7s> Borough Handicap, of 80 sovs ; one mile.—lnapan, 7st, 1; Fleka, Bst 51b,. 2; Oracle, 7«t 9lb, 8. Queen’s Guard, Lady’s Link, Lady Bell and Mongonui were scratched. Won by a head. Time, Imin 46 l-6th secs. Dividends, £lO 19s and 14s, Maiden Hack, of 30 sovs ; one mile—Lissa, Bst slb, 1; Lifebelt, Bst 61b, 2; Halcyon, Bst 12lb, 8. Led from start to finish. Time, 1 min 52 secs. Dividends, £3 14s and 18S.
