The Shipping Combine.
: Mr Gerald Balfour, President of the Board of Trade, stated in the House of Commons tnat the Board of Trade was considering the effect of the Pierpont Morgan shipping combine on British shipping. A Mr Arnold Forster, Secretary to the Admiralty, said that of the vessels controlled by the combine three were subsidised and five held at the disposal of the Admiralty without subsidy. The “ Daily Telegraph ” states that the British steamers retain the flag and in the event of war the combination automatically terminates. -The Times also publishes a reassuring statement.
