Drowning Fatality.
. ’ rf" , sy r 'i~' Abodti half-past twelve to-day almost unfortunate "fatality occurred' at the wharf. A'fireman, one' of the Queen of the South’s crew, was stepping from the wharf to the boat, which was-close to the wharf, slipped, and fell into the river, and in falling must have struck his head as he never rose. Thejpefffie and other helpers are grappling for the body ■ Just aft of the Queen the schooner Toroa is lying and it is surmised that the body may be caught under heir. The deceased’s name is Charles Davis, who resided in Wellington. Ha was about 42 years of age and married, and the father of six children. . s ;
