Florence got wrecked in the river. She was, what was thought, securely fastened to the bank, but the flood caused her to pull the stakes she was fastened to away, and drifting down the river got foul of the wire across the river at Paiaka, and turned turtle and sank. It is feared she cannot be recovered. The loss will be a heavy one to Mr Jupp. The heavy rain in the Wairarapa has caused a flood in the river, but we have not heard of any disaster.
