Polo.
No great interest has been aroused in the polo tournament now being held in Palmerston, as the drawing appears to have resulted in a strong team and a weak one having to play. On Wednesday afternoon the first match was that of Manawatu I. ; y. Mangaheia, resulting in an easy win lor the first-named team by 14 to 2. Manawatu 11. then played Hawke's Bay, who were much too good for them, the game ending in the scores 14 to 1. On Thursday the Rangitikei team easily defeated the Hawera men by 11 to 8. The first beat for the Handicap Cup was then played, the teams being Manawatu 111. and Manawatu IV., the game ending by Manawatu IV winning by 6 to 6. Yesterday the Manawatu No. 1 team (0. Robinson, A. Strang, R. P. Abraham and H. B. Abraham) played Hawke’s Bay (H. A.. Russell, J. Ormond, W. McKenzie and 0. Nelson) in the second round for the Savile Cup. Unfortunately the game when the score stood at 2 all, had to be postponed owing to an accident to a Napier man.
