Abraham and Williams’ Stock Report.
Our sales for the week comprise Woodville, Pahiatua, Palmerston, a-K* a clearing sale on account of the Kalmarsh Estate. At Dannevirke last Friday wc had full yarding of sheep, and a moderate entry of cattle. W# disposed of all the cattle ann most of the sheep at prices equal to the larger centres. At Woodville on Monday stock came forward largely in excess of advertised numbers, a full yarding being the result. , Sheep wore dull of sale, vendors hesitating about accepting present market values. Fair business was, however, recorded. Cattle made good value, grown bullocks and weaners being most in demand. At Pahiatua on Tuesday we had a very heavy yarding of sheep, several lots having to be accommodated in the cattle pens. Young sheep and soundmouth breeding ewes were eagerly sought after, and sold readily under the hammer at full market values, bidding at times being animated. Several lots of lambs were yarded and sold, a better tone prevailing. Aged ewes in low condition were difficult to quit, most of the lines changed hands, however, at prices in favour of vendors. W« have to report a large clearance. As regards cattle we only had a limited entry, young stock and anything approaching beef being mostly in demand. Cull dairy cows were not required. At Palmerston yesterday we had an extra large yarding of sheep, our accommodation being strained to its utmost capacity. There was a fair yarding of cattle, mostly comprising grown bullocks of good quality. In sheep a lower tone prevailed than last week, wethers in particular being very dull of Bale. The inability of the freezing companies to cope with the supply of fat sheep is making itself felt, and until graziers can get their fat sheep away we do not look for any improvement in price. With the exception of really forward bullocks cattle were dull of sale. At oar clearing sale of the Kelmarsh Estate, Waikaaae, we had a good attendance of buyers and a good sale resulted. , At Palmerston 4-tooth wethers were sold at Is 3d, a and 4-tooth wethers 78, 3-tooth ewe# 8s 3d, breeding ewes aged 58 fid, fis id, 6s od, 78 6d, 7s Bd, 78 gd, 8s 3d, 8s gd, cull ewes 3s 7d to 4s 4d, lambs 5s to 5s gd, low-condi tioaed lambs 3s gd, Hampshire rams £1 is.
