The Volunteer Concert.
To-morrow evening the concert that has been organised to provide funds for the local Volunteer Corps will be held at the Public Hall, and it will be seen from the programme which appears in another column that quite a number of new performers will make their first appearance. Amongst the number are Miss Daisy Wood, Miss Mack, Miss Haywood, Mr James and Mr Byles, who take part in the musical portion of the entertainment, while Captain Jack, of Palmerston North, in contributing National dances is sure to meet with the approbation of those who attend. Besides these other local singers are contributing items, and are also appearing in various tableaux, which are said to be very good. The tableau “ Dear Mother England ” will open the performance, and others to be carried out during the evening are entitled “ Girls of the Modern Period,” ** Cinderella,” and “ Two Strings to His Bow.” The prices for admission are as and is, and as everything has been done to ensure success, we can confidently look forward to a good house for to-morrow night. Reserved seats can be secured for the extra charge of fid at Mr Hamer’s chemist shop.
