Abraham and Williams’ Stock Report.
Our sales for the week comprise Waikanae on Friday last. Danneyirke Saturday, WoodviUe Monday, Pahiatua Tuesday, Otaki Wednesday, and Palmerston on Thursday. At Waikanae we had a fair yarding of stock, but business was dull under the hammer, a fair amount being transacted after the sale. At Dannevirke last Saturday the yarding and attendance were both small and the business transacted hardly worth recording. At Woodville on Monday we had a full yarding of cattle, and a good entry •f sheep, with a largo attendance of liublic. A line of 70 steers and 406 ow conditioned a-tooth wethers failed to find purchasers, the balance sold at current rates. •At Pahiatua on Tuesday stock exceeded advertised numbers especially in sheep. Several lots of young breeding ewes ware yarded, and were well competed for, the balance mainly comprising aged ewes, which sold readily at advanced rates. Several buyers from distance had the effect of'hardining prices. Cattle sold well especially weaners and dairy heifers due to calvs at factory dates, for which we experienced an unsatisfied demand. We made an almost clearance mostly under the hammer.
At Palmerston on Thursday we had a full yarding oi sheep mainly of poor quality with one or two exceptions. A heavy entry of cattle came forward principally lines of grown bollocks of good quality, generally, the market was depressed, there was a poor attendance and buyers were conspicuous by their absence. Fires and the hot drying winds lately experienced evidently telling as/ tale on the food. The balk of stock changed hands', though in some cases lower values had to be taken.
