Sir John Hall on Federation.
Sir John Hall, in an interview, said with reference to the question of federation that he did not think it wise for New Zealand to sacrifice her independence. She would have but a small vote in the Commonwealth Parliament, which would be so far removed from New Zealand criticism and influence that if once federated it would be found that New Zealanders' had sacrificed their selfgovernment to a veiw considerable
extent. He added—“No, we must remain out. I don’t think we shall lose by it.”
