The Annual School Picnic.
We are continually being asked when the annual school picnic is likely to be held. We are not in a position to answer such a question as it is one wholly lying with the school committee, and our local- committee appears to have fallen into similar ways to past committees and endeavours to do as little as possible. This is not as it should be and we trust a change may soon come o’er the scene.
However, about the picnic we think it is very doubtful whether there will be one, and the scholars will have to-hold the committee responsible for such shortcomings. It must bo remembered that the school examination will soon take place and a holiday has generally disastrous consequences on the attendance, and unless a good attendance is secured, the school with such changes in the teaching staff will make but a poor examination. The picnic should have been held during the very long Summer h lidays, but it was net, probably because what is everybody’s business is no ones. We think that it would be wiser for all to delay the outing until the examination is over, and then let us have a real good one.
