Mess Meeting at Capetown

v An enthusiastic mass meeting was egrM at Capetown on Saturday, in Connection with the war. 7 Resolutions were passed in regard to the conduct of the war, and the end to be aimed at in the interests of the country. The calumnies on the British forces published in Europe wore repelled, and unwavering confidence was expressed in the Imperial Government.

Mr Thomas Graham, AttorneyGeneral, said that the calumnies circulated abroad were the result of an organised conspiracy fed on the ill-gotten gains of a coterie which waa appealing from tho God of Battles to the slums of Europe. Mr Soherinbruck, a German settler and member of Parliament; Mr O’Reilly, deputy-Mayor; Mr Theophilus Schreiner, and Sir David Gill, Astronomer Royal, were among the speakers. German and Danish residents of Cape Colony are also Holding meetings with a similar object. The Wesleyan Synod at Capetown has passed a resolution denouncing the slanders uttered with reference to the British forces.
