The “ New York Herald’s ” correspondent writes that the Filipino insurgents are becoming increasingly irreconcilable. Out of fifty thousand American soldiers in the Philippines, the correspondent declares that only twelve thousand are in reality effective. Dynamite Explosion. *- An explosion of a dynamite cartridge occurred in the underground railway at New York. The cartridge exploded a reserve ot half a ton of dynamite, doing a million dollars’ worth of damage. Eight persons were killed and one hundred injured.
