Midnight Murder.
A mysterious tragedy has occurred at Towitta, West Australia. In the middle of the night a man entered a room where two sisters named Sohippan were sleeping. The elder escaped, and when she returned with assistance, Iter sister Bertha, aged fourteen, was found dead, with a teerible gash in her throat, and the assailant was gone. The parents of the girls were away on a visit to Perth.
The Schippan girls were awakened by a man throwing himself across their bodies.
The elder jumped out of heel and the man grabbed her and knocked her head against the wall. In the struggle the assailant dipped a knife, and while he was groping for it, the girl escaped. Two ; brothers who were sleeping in an adjoining building were frightened by the noise, and sought assistance half a mile away. . Besides the wound in her throat, the girl Bertha was gashed about the head.
