NARROW ESCAPE OF THE BRITISH. As Lieut.-Colonel Burrowes, commanding a detachment of 19th Hubsar3 and a body of mounted infantry, and the Burghersdorp town guard were proceeding from Burghersdorp to Venterstad, they narrowly escaped an ambush. The scoutg mistook Commandant Kruzinger's laager of three hundred Boers for a British encampment commanded by General Brabant. An engagement ensued and several Boers were killed and wounded. The British casualties were nominal. ATTACK ON BURGHERSDORP. A small party of Boers attacked Burghersdorp on Monday. After heavy fighting they were repulsed. KITCHENER'S PROCLAMATION. Lord Kitchener has issued a proclamation that burghers voluntarily surrendering will be allowed to livt with their families in Government laagers and return at the end of the guerilla warfare. Any stock or property brought in will be respected. THE RAID A FAILURE. The Times states that the Boer raid in Cape Colony is a manifest failure, the Dutch neither joining the invading commandoes nor rising themselves. Trains are now running as usual i in the disturbed districts.
