More Troops for the Front.

The Government has decided to send another contingent of 200 men to the front. Instructions are to be issued at once to the commandants of the various districts to receive appMcations for enrolment. The conditions will be that the applicant* must be able to ride and shoot, and must not be under 6ft 7in in height. They must either have seen service in South Africa or have been in volunteer corps. The pay will be 5f a day.

In view of the fact that there are several mounted Maori corps in the colony, the Government has decided to take, offers for enrolement from representatives of the native race "up to 100 ; so that if this number comes forward the contingent will consist half of Maoris and half of Europeans.

The Imperial Government has guaranteed to pay the men, and to bear the whole cost of their equipment and transport there and back.

The Sixth Contingent, and the volunteers to fill the gaps in the contingents already in the fie'd, will be despatched in three weeks' time. As the men are chosen in their respective districts they will be drafted to Wellington.

The Christchtirch War Pond Committee having offered to equip and send twenty men at its own expense, provided it is a'lowed to choose them and transport is provided, the Government has telegraphed its acceptance. — Times.
