DIVISION OF PRIZE MONEY. Field-%! irsbal Count von Waldersee handed Livvj'enant-General Sir Alfred Gaselee, the British Commander, a sum of £11,600 as the British share of the plunder taken by the allies at Paoting-fu. General Gaselee has given the money to Sir Ernest Satow, the British Ambassador, for the relief of destitute Chinese. THE WALDERSEE CHAFFEE INCIDENT. The Chaffee-Walderseee incident has closed, the American General having admitted the inappropriateness of an assertion made by him that looting was committed by men who had done nothing for the relief of Pekin. MISCELLANEOUS. Taku Harbour is icebound, thus blocking the navigation of the Peiho. By order of Count von Waldersee, Yiko, Li Hung Chang's secretary, has been arrested on a charge of communicating with the Boxers. PEACE NEGOTIATIONS DELAYED. A reliable Chinese report states that Li Hung Chang's credentials as peace negotiator have been refused by the Powers, on the ground that they did not bear the Chinese Emperor's private seal. A further delay ia the negotiations toward? a settlement is consequently inevitable.
