ANOTHER INCREASE.
*O THX EDITOR OF THE lUNAWATU HERALD. Bib, — A more debateabls act than that committed by the Borough Council at their lait meeting has not oome before my notioe for a long time. With a bare qaoram Cr Pnrcell gives his casting vote (as chairman), for a rise in salary of £10 to the town clerk as Inspector of Buildinga (a billet made for obvious purposes.) This, Sir, is a deliberate attempt to raise tha clerk's salary another ten pounds, as you will remember it was raised some time ago the same arqount. This is most uncalled for. The town clerk applied for the position at £50 per annum, and having been previous'y Mayor ought to have known what work was requirod of him. I for one •Irongly object, and hope other ratepayers will take the matter up. The thanks of the ratepayer? are due to Councillors Hennessy and Austin for their objeotlon to this soandalous proposition. — I am, &•., W. B. BaoßSfl.
