The Doctor's Meeting.
A meeting of the Committee formed to secure the services of a legally-qualified medical man met last night at the Foxton Racing Club's office. Present-— Messrs Rhodes (in the chair), Gray, Stiles, Stewart, Jenks, H. Baker, Walter Robinson, Caverhill, E. Osborne, Hennessy, W. Cook, A. Loveday and Rev. H. Leach. The following resolutions were agreed to : — That the Secretary write to the Trustees of the late Doctor's guarantee fund asking that they will forward authority to the Government to give any touching the late fund. The meeting received the report of the canvasser, in which it was stated that £140 was guaranteed towards a doctor, contributed by 88 persons. That the canvass being considered satisfactory, the Secretary be instructed to advertise for a doctor, guaranteeing £150 per annum in Auckland, Chrißtchurch, Wellington, and Dunedin. That the Rev. H. Leach, Messrs Hennessy, Stewart and the seoretary be authorised to draw up an advertisement. Mr P. Hennessy was appointed Treasurer. That subscribers be notified that the first quarter's subscription is now due, and same may be paid to Mr Hennessy, the Treasurer.
