Foxton Borough Council.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above took place last night at 7.30. Present — His Worship the Mayor and Crs Jenks, Purcell, Walsh, Henne3sy and Baker. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The inward and outward correspondence was read. Proposed by Cr Purcell, seconded by Cr Hennessy, That the clerk be instructed to order 2,000 cheques same as Corporation of Wanganui, with necessary alterations from Mr A. D. Willis, price not to exceed 22s 6d a thousand. Carried. Proposed by Cr Purcell, seconded by Cr Hennessy, That the reports as read be addpted and suggestions embodied therein be given eftect to. Carried. Proposed by Cr Purcell, seconded by Cr Hennessy, That the Ranger be instructed not to pound horses and cattle grazing on the Borough roads between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. until further notice. Carried. Proposed by Cr Purcell, seconded by Cr Hennessy, That the accounts as read be passed for payment. Carried. Proposed by Cr Baker, seconded by Cr Hennessy, That the report of the Committee appointed to inspect the ferry and bridge be adopted. Carried. Proposed by Cr Jenks, seconded by Cr Rhodes, That the punt and everything in connection with the late ferry at Wirokino be brought to Foxton and all ropes and chains etc. be stored in Council yard, also that whare used by Mr Chapman, be taken apart and brought down on punt. Carried. Proposed by Cr Baker, seconded by Cr Hennessy, That the Clerk write to the Manager of District Railways asking when the luggage room is to be built at the local station. It is some months since the work was promised to be done and it is urgently needed. Carried.
