Doubt appears to exist as to the operation of the Trading Stamps Act, and the position of traders in possession ot trading stamps. The Act came into force on Monday las t, and any trader issuing trading stamps now renders himself liable to a penalty. The same risk applies to any person who shall give or deliver any moneys or goods on presentation of any trading stamp. Stamps issued by traders to their customers prior to Monday last must be redeemed by the trading company, and every such customer is entitled to receive fourteen shillings in the pound for every full book of stamps in such books, or goods to an equal value at the option of the Trading Stamp Company, and should the company fail or refuse to meet this liability the holder may recover in Court. Traders who may have stocks of trading stamps appear to have no remedy whatever, and lose tbe value of the stamps, for they cannot now be issued to the public, and there is no right of recovery fmm the Trading Stamp Company. — 11. 8.
