The Manawatu Railway.
■ • — IMPORTANT ALTERATIONS IN THE TIME-TABLE. For some time past the directors of the Manawatu Railway Company have recognised the necessity, owing to the increase in the passenger traffic, of improving the train service, and they have resolved upon some alterations in the time-table that are bound to be highly appreoiated by the travelling public. Under present arrangements it is not possible for people residing in the Manawatu district who have business to transact in Wellington to come down to the city and return home the same day. The directors have decided to- abolish the 1.20 p.m. service from Wellington to Palmerston, and despatch a train to Palmerston at 4 o'clock each afternoon. The train will only stop a few moments at the intermediate stations, so that it may reach its destination at 9,15 o'clock. Another important new departure "will be an extra train leaving Wellington for Palmerston at 10 minutes past 10 each morning. Also, tho early" train from Paimerston is to make a little faster time than at present, bo that it may reach Thorndon at about 12.30 instead of 12,45. The alterations are to come into force on Ist December. — Post.
