STATEMENT BY THE PRI. SONER.
A long statement has been made by the captured man, in which he says that the Mawbys were murdered because they were always taunting his wife (a white woman) with having married a black fellow. He states that McKay and Fitzpatrick' were shot by his brother, and that the police nar» rowly missed capturing them several times. He says that he was fired of being out, and intended to surrender.
