MASSACRE OF MISSION ARIESAwful details are to hand in regard to the massacre of missionaries at Taiyuen. A large party of Europeans had taken refuge in the house of Rev. Fathing, of the Baptist Mission. The governor invited the refugees ta come to his Yamen on the pretence oi providing an escort to the coast. They went and were all beheaded and their heads displayed in baskets at the gates of the city the following day. A similar fate befel ten Catholic missionaries. The American Mission, 20 miles south of Taiyuen, held out for three days and thefa tell victims. The men's hearts were cut out and all were beheaded. /{he bodies being thrown to the flames. The authorities at Washington ar« gratified at the Anglo-German-agree-ment, and are certain to endorse it.
