The work according to the lowest tender, will cost f £16,500, or thereabouts. The Counties and Town Board are asked to contribute £16,250, for which the Government will establish communication along the new line of bridge. The chairman read all correspondence which had passed between him and Mr Barron on this matter with a view of having the word bridge defined and reported his interviews with the chairman of the Rangitikei County Council, and now advised that the proposed agreement with respect to the erection of the bridge be signed. Jol-nstone's Aorangi property. He protested against the Main Drain road from Taikorea road to Glen Oroua having been made on peat formation. The clerk was directed to inform Mr Tolhurst that the Council had not been approached in regird to making a road from Glen Oroua factory ; that the portion ot the Main Drain road he referred to had been destroyed by Mr Buckman's traffic, and that the road was placed on the peat formation with the concurrence of the the road overseer. RESOLUTIONS. The Council decided to take the necessary steps to raise a loan of £7000 for the purpose of constructing the extension of the Sanson tramway. It was decided to have 50 copies of the balance-sheet printed. The tender of Mr Boyle for completion of work Rosina Line at £24 10s was accepted, and E. Pigott's of £50 for the right of working the Shannon ferry. . A special rate of i-3oth id in the £ was struck in Awahou riding to pay interest on a loan of £400 raised to make Elkin's road, a rate of §d over the Rongotea special rating district to meet interest of £400 to make streets at Rongotea. That the Chairman, Crs Clark, Hammond and Masters be a committee to pass accounts and accept tenders on the 7th November, igoo, at 2 o'clock. That seeing the large amount of Council's overdraft, it is desirable that the rate collector should press for payment of rates for current financial year, and he be instructed to sue for all amounts not paid within one month from this date. That half cost to the extent of £12 be paid to the Sluggish River Drainage Board to deepen the drain through Mr Greenaway's to Couper's road, if the •work is carried out to the satisfaction of Cr McLennan. That this Council understanding that it is the intention of the Palmerston Borough Council to drain the sewage of the Borough into the Manawatu river, strongly objects to this being done, as it would thereby pollute the river running through its district v That the sum of £10 from general account be added to loan money available for the purpose of lowering and metalling Oroua Bridge-Foxton road. That in the opinion of this Council it is desirable to protect the cutting on the north side of the Rangitikei river leading from the temporary bridge, and that the Rangitikei County Council be asked to get the same done without delay. That Cr Strang and the overseer be empowered to have flax cleared and holes filled in on the road from Moutoa schoolhouse to Moutoa estate. The Council then adjourned to November 20th.— Advocate.
