LI HUNG CHANG. Li Hung Chang has visited the foreign Minister at Pekin. TORPEDO BOATS IN COLLISION. Two Russian torpedo boats collided in the harbour at Shaa-hai-kwan. One of them sank. THE PAOTING-FU EXPEDITION. Field -Marshal Count von Waldersee complimented the British force ineluded in the Paoting-fu column on its splendid appearance. A hundred and fifty of the Victorian naval contingent are included in the Paoting-fu expedition. THE CHINESE COURT. The Mahommedan rebels at Shangsi are delaying the arrival of the Chinese Court at Si-ngan-fu. General Liu-yung-fu, with an army of Cantonese Black Flags, is marching from the province of Hunan to Si-ngan-fu. THE ANTI-DYNASTIC RISING. The anti-Manchu rebels have defeated an Imperial Brigade at Kwanguing, in the province of Kwang-tung, killing sixty. The rebels captured six towns, but did not loot. They declare that they only wish to overthrow the Manchu dynasty. THE PAOTING-FU EXPEDITION. The British transport service and the marching of the British troops are described as infinitely superior to those of the other forces. Colonel Lorn Campbell, who was recently appointed commander oi the British force at Tientsin, will make a detour from the main Paoting-fu column south of the Paoting-fu River, traversing many of the Boxers' villages. STORY OF THE SIEGE OF PEKIN. ! "The Times" has published a ; twenty-column account of the sifge of ' the Legations at Pekin by Dr Morrison, its correspondent in the Chinese
Capital. This is the first eye-witness's narrative to reach Europe, and it has caused a great sensation in the various capitals. It formulates a strong indictment against the Dowager-Em-press, the Court, and the Tsung-li-Yamen, and tells the story of the siege with graphic details. THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF. Count yon Waldersee, Commander-in-Chief of the allied army, has arrived at Pekin. STOPPAGE OF SUPPLIES. I Advices from Shanghai foreshadow operations by the allies in the direction ot Hankow, one of the treaty port3 on the Yang-tse-kiang, in order to prevent supplies from reaching the fugitive Court party and the troops supporting j the Dowager-Empress at Si-ngan-fu, in the province of Shen-si. MISCELLANEOUS. Documents have been discovered at the Yamen of the Viceroy of Chi-li which prove that the Chinese Govern- j xnent largely subsidised the Boxers.
