AN ESCORT ATTACKED.
Sixty cavalry, escorting 22 waggons in the vicinity of Vryheid, were attacked by 140 Boers. Only twelve escaped. The Natal volunteers are searching for the remainder.
Boers ambushed a police patrol of five near Ladybrand. They ordered 14 hands up," and treacherously shot two of the patrol dead, and wounded two others.
