Corporal Punishment in Schools.
The question of corporal punishment in schools has been much discussed lately in Germany and Switzerland, and the Canton Berne has come to a decision in the matter. The " Ethical World " considers the new law a compromise between the flagellants and anti-flagellants. It prescribes the use of the cane for " grave faults," such as '• indicated moral perversion " ; repeated lying is given as an instance and kits expressly forbidden to punish for want of application. Girls are not to be punished physically at all.
