The Ladies' Meeting.
w 4 Yesterday afternoon a number of ladies met Mrs Rhodes at the Library, at the request of the Mayor, to con - sider the best steps to be taken to provide tea on Peace Demonstration Day. There was a large amount of enthusiasm shown in the proceedings, and certain districts were allocated to different ladies to canvass. Mrs Rhodes was elected chairwoman and Mrs Leach, secretary of a committee of Mesdames Walsh, Barber, W. Robinson, and Wooilass, and Misses Whyte and Collins, and Messrs Kearsley, Leach and Betty to get up a concert for the c\ r ening. The committee meet again on Thursday next at 4 p.m. at All Saints' Schoolroom. TO THE DEAF.— A rich lady, cored of her Deafness and Noises in the Head by Dr Nicholson's Artificial Ear Drums, gave £5,000 to bs In.-ti-ute, so that deaf people unabie to procure the ear Drum? may have them fr«e.
