The annual meeting of the Foxton Cricket Club was held on Tuesday evening in All Saints' Schoolroom, and was attended by a fairly representative number "of members, Mr W. Nye 'occupying the chair. After consideration of the report and balance-sheet, which were adopted as read, the following officers were elected for the coming season :— President, Walter Robinson^ Esq. ; Vice- Presidents, Rev.
H. S. Leach, Messrs W. B. Rhodes (Mayor), W. Hunter, A. Fraser, C. R. Caverhill (Moutoa), and J. R. McLennan (Oroua Downs) ; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr W. S. Stewart ; Committee, Messrs Betty, Bowe, Furrie, Martin, A. Morgan, J. Morgan. Nye, and G. Stiles; Captain, Mr Stiles; Vice-captain, Mr Betty. The following were also appointed Match Cammittee for the season, Messrs Betty, Furrie, Martin, G. Smith, and Stiles. The trophies for the best Bowling and Batting averages both fell to the lot of Mr L. Furrie, undoubtedly the most distinguished player of the last season. Similar trophies have been promised for the coming season, and in addition one for the highest individual score in any one innings of a challenge match. The business of the meeting was diversified by the presentation to the Secretary of a handsome silver-mounted pipe and a briar-root of extraordinary merit. The presenfation was made in ; very flattering terms on behalf ot the Club by the Captain, and was suitably acknowledged by Mr Stewart. In his report, which was of a generally satisfactory nature, the Secretary pointed out thaJ, although only seven set matches were played during the season with outside clubs, four of these were won by the Foxton Club, two were lost, and one drawn. The amount of practice bestowed on the game by the members scarcely warranted even the hope of such success. But this result shows what might be, if playing members went in properly for^ractice. After making necessary arrangements for the conduct of affairs in the coming season, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the outgoing committee, and to Mr Leach for the use of the schoolroom. The meeting closed with the usual courtesies to the chair.
