All Saints' Tea and Concert.
Last evening the tea given by the ladies of All Saints' Church congregation was attended by a great number of people, and was a great success. There were two tables for adults running down each side of the hall, and one table for children at the top, and these tables were re-filled twice. The tables presented quite an enticing appearance, and were loaded with all the good things imaginable, and were made very pretty with decorations. The ladies are to be congratulated on the success which attended their efforts. The concert which followed the tea was also enthusiastic, all the performers receiving a flattering reception. Miss Hadfield played some " Scottish Airs " as an overture on the pianoforte, and the following items were also given :— Part song, " Red, White and Blue," Masters B. Shadbolt, A. Cook, F. Robinson, W. Cook and H. Collins. For an encore the young performers sang another verse. Miss O'Brien recited " Especially Jim," and for an encore recited another piece. Mrs Tansley sang •• Thou art so near and yet so far," and for an encore number " In Happy Moments." Mr W. Cook sang 41 By the Fountain," and "The Longshoreman." Miss Tansley rendered " The Promise of Life," and " I'll Trust You Still." " Sailing," by the Rev. Mr Leach, with a chorus was next, and Miss Bertha Dudson recited 11 Papa's Letter " and " Entertaining Sister's Beau." Mrs W. Cook and Miss Cook sang the duet " Ora Pro Nobis," and sang the last verse as an encore. Mr O. Gardner sang "Just One Girl," and being recalled recited 41 The Pied Piper." Miss West sang •• Queen Mary's Prayer," and repeated the last verse. Mr Hickson sang " Nil Desperandum," and Mrs Dunckley also recited. Master B. Shadbolt sang "In the Gloaming," and " Good Old Jeff." This being the last item the Rev. Mr Leach stepped forward and thanked the ladies of the Guild and others for the trouble they had taken in connection with the tea, and to the performers and those who attended. "God Save the Queen " was sung by all present and one of the most enjoyable gatherings of the kind yet held was brought to a close. We understand that the Church will benefit nearly £io by the social.
