AN UNDERSTANDING WITH COREA.
Corea has assented to the despatch of Japanese troops to Corea to provide for emergencies in connection with the Chinese trouble.
NEWS FROM PEKIN.
It now transpires that Imperial edicts instigating the destruction of foreigners were issued simultaneously with the others which urged the protection of the Legations. Couriers from Pekin report that General Li-Ping-Heng again fiercely bombarded the Legations for two days with batteries posted on the city wall. THE ALLIED ARMY. After the battle of Yang-tsun, the allied forces rested for three days owing to the excessive heat. The waters by which the country on the banks of the river was flooded, through the cutting of the dykes, are now subsiding. EXECUTION OF A CHINESE OFFICIAL. Chang- Yin-Hsuan, who visited England as the Chinese Envoy at the time of the Queen's Jubilee celebrations, has been executed by Imperial order. MINOR ITEMS. A balloon section of English engineers has started for China.
