CONFIRMATION OF THE MASSACRE.

The Chinese representative of the Russo-Chinese Bank at Pekin confirms the report of the massacre of the foreign Ministers, who, he says, killed their families when the Legations wera stormed.

Sir Robert Hart, the Director of the Chinese Maritime Customs service, according to this authority, took his life rather than fall into the hands of the Chinese.

The Governor of Che-kiang has espoused Boxerism. The Chinese in Yang-tse are shipping guns and munitions to Nanking and other places. The anti-foreign leader, General Li Ping Heng is marchiug on Pekin with a large force. He has attacked the Catholic converts at Hsuchan-fu.

Admiral Bruce has telegraphed to the Admiralty the following message, which has reached him from Sir Claude Mac Donald, dated Pekin, the 21st instant ;— " Chinese troops from June aoth to July 16th repeatedly attacked the Legations from all sides, with rifles and artillery. Since the 1 8th there has been an armistice, but a strict cordon is maintained by both sides around the position. The Chinese barricade is near ours. AH the women and children are in the Legation. The casualties include sixtytwo killed, among the numbers Captain Strouts. A number are in hospital, including Captain Halliday. The members of the Legation are all well except David Oliphant Warren, killed."
