The following list shows the position of the various clubs at the conclusion of the first ronnd.— Played. Won. Pts. Raukawa 6 6 12 Horowhenua 6 5 I 0 Levin 6 4 jj. Foxton 6 3° Manukau 624 Ohau 6 x 2 Wanders 6 o o The following are the matches to be played by local team in the second •of the contest :— A July aB, v. Horowhenoa, at Foxton ? Aug. 4, v, Manukau, at Levlu-; Aug.
, 4.V. Raukaw a, at Levin ; Aug. IB, v. j Ohau. at Fnxton ; Aug. 25, v. Wan- ■ ders ; at Wcraroa ; Sept. 1. v. Levin, 1 at Foxton. As the Manukau Club has gone to * pieces the match v. Manukau at Levin . will consequently be forfeited to Foxton, therefore the local team will only » have to travel to Levin twice, which is 1 a little better thau seven times as in i the last round. 1 Foxton will be considerably weakened ; for future matches as the team's two . crack wings, Sullivan and O'Dwyer, 1 have left the district. It is rather un- [ fortunate, and combined with players hurt and the great deal of travelling ! in ths first round the team is put to a I great disadvantage. : The following will represent Foxton against Horowhenua on the racei course on Saturday : — Purcell, Furrie, i O'Carroll, RewiteJ Hunter, Wingate, Henderson, Samuels, Rakina, Hanna, Warner, Kennedy, Smith, Gustofsen, and Ward. The above team is a strong combination, and with decent luck should turn the tables on their opponents, who defeated them by S points to 6 when they last met at Levin. It is to be hoped that there will be a good attendance of both sexes, especially the ladies, whose presence will help to make the game more gentle, besides stimulating the players to greater exertions.
