Lord Methuen's column has expelled a body of Boers from a strong position at Vereeniging, on the Rand River, where the railway from Orange river Colony passes into Transvaal territory. The forces under LieutenantGeneral Baden- Powell and MajorGeneral Hutton had a smart skirmish with General Snyman's commando at Rustenburg, to the westward of Pretoria.
