Flaxmill Association.
Last evening a meeting of the , members of the above Association was held at Mr F. Easton's residence. j There were fourteen millers present, some of whom came from Waikanai, Otaki, Paiaka, Oroua Bridge and Turakina. Mr O. Gardner was voted to the Chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read. The following resolutions were passed. That each member pays an annual subscription of one pound payable in advance and due on ist April each year. That. all members must be bona* fide flaxmillers. That the the present members be considered original members and that any one wishing to join the Association must be proposed by a member at a general meeting and accepted by the meeting. That Messrs Gardner, Austin, Easton, Hennessy and Baker be appointed a committee to draw up rules and submit same to general meeting. That a petition be drawn up by the Secretary and presented for signature to all millers and hemp merchants in (he Foxton and surrounding districts, praying the Government to appoint a grader for all N.Z. hemp for export, and that a printed letter oe sent to all othtr millers requesting them to state whether they agree to such an appotetment* vigtat the Secretary draw up a petition^ to be signed by all the millers of tjtfiS district praying the Government to <qav« the quotations of the London market price of N.Z. hemp cabled to the colony once a week through the Agent-General. - -That the Secretary be injltructed to obtain a gazette from London giving the 'most information on the fibre trade for; the use of the members of the Association. -That the Secretary be authorised to telegraph to the Government asking theni to obtain a quotation from the Agent-General as to the present state of the flax market, and to guarantee the expense of the cable, if necessary. Tbat Messrs Stansell, Gardner, and the Secretary with as many other millers as convenient, present the petitions through Messrs Stevens and Field, M.H.R.'s, to the Government when signed, praying for the appointment of a grader and for weekly quotattoos.
