The Mounted Infantry and Yeoman ry cleared the south bank, pursuing the enemy for a mile, when they met with a heavy/ artillery fire. The Royal Artillery and Naval guns hurried to the front, and with a tew rounds dispersed the enemy. The Boers next attempted to turn the left flank, but failed, being checkmated by the Mounted Infantry and Yeomanry. Major-General Hamilton, advancing three miles on the left, was directed to incline his forces inwards. Tbis movement drove the enemy towards Pretoria. The British, after twelve hours marching and fighting, bivouacked on rHe battle ground, the Guards and ither commands surrounding Pretoria in the positions stated. At two o'clock to-day, Lord Roberts ceremonially entered Pretoria. AGENT-GENERAL'S WIRE.
The Agent-General wires :— " Pretoria occupied by Roberts on the fifth."
