Kinematograph.

In another column it is advertised that at the Public Hall on Monday, June 4th, one of the best Kinematograph displays will be given, including a large number of War pictures. This is the same company that brought round the Diamond Jubilee pictures two and a half years ago, the first in New Zealand, under the management of the Hon. E. C. Townse^d. In noticing the advertisement, the Mariborough Express -says: — "The wide spread interest which is evinced in affair* in South Africa wa? amply shown on ThusWsy vfigbk vrtysn the Christchurch Transvaal War Kinematpgraph Co. opened to a crowded house, standing room only being obtainable at 8 o'clock." Judging from reports we have seen of the entertainment it is well worth a visft, they having shown to crowded and enthusiastic houses all through the present tour. The pictures include our first N.Z. contingent on their way to the front * Royal Horse Artillery in action, N.S.W. Lancers, Gordon Highlanders, charge of Kitchener's Light Horse, Boers storming an entrenched Kopje and being repulsed by marines, Infantry arrest an execution of a Boer spy, famous Black Watch and Ifoblin Fusiliers, and in addition to numerous others dealing with the present war the syndicate" have a very fine film showing a detachment of navals driving Boer skirmishers off a kopje. In addition to the Kinematograph, a really fine concert interlude is given between the first and second part of the programme, including the well-known performers and favourites, Miss Amy Vaughan, Mr Harry Baxter, Mr Sid Warren and Mr James Fergus.
