BOERS CLEARING FROM NATAL.
General Buller's cavalry has discovered that the country is clear of Boers from Acton Homes in the direction of Van Reenan's Pass. PEAISE FOR COLONIALS. The splendid behaviour of MajorGeneral Hutton's Colonial Division is much commented on and declared to have largely contributed to the recent successes. COLONEL PLUMER ACTIVE. Colonel Plumer has communicated with Mafeking by pigeon post. He is making similar endeavours to communicate with the southern relief column. MAFEKING SAFE ON THE 28th. Colonel Baden-Powell reports, under date 28th, that everything has been quiet since the 25th, when the Boer leader failed to induce the Boers to assault the town. BOER ARTILLERY WITHDRAWN FROM MAFEKING. There is some indication that the artillery has been withdrawn. CLOSING IN. Major-General Brabant has effected a junction with Major-General Rundie's forces near Thabanchu. INVALID AUSTRALIANS The Moravian left on the sth for Australia with fifty invalid soldiers. A TRIBUTE TO THE BOERSLieut. Dowling pays a high tribute to the treatment accorded him by the Boers, whom he regards, in the main, as honorable foemen.
