The Rotoma (from Bundaberg), the Frank Guy (from Maryborough), and the Fairy Rock (from Tasmania), having come alongside the wharves at Dunedin without having been fumigated, the work was commenced to-day by the Customs authorities by __x>rder of tha Colonial Secretary. The Fairy Rock and Frank Guy have both discharged a little cargo. As the vessels are loaded with timber and scrap iron they are not likely to harbour many rats. At a meeting of the Christohurch City Council questions of sanitation were the principal matters discussed. It was resolved to appoint a medical officer and special inspectors to make a house-to-house inspection of the city.
