The Grain Market.

A number of prominent grain growers in the Rangitikei district met at Mr Beckett's rooms, Marton, on Saturday afternoon. Mr J. G. Wilson occupied the chair. A general discussion ensued as regards the proposal of getting improved prices for grain this year. The question of exporting to South Africa was touched upon. After the matter had been freely talked over it was decided not to take any action in the meantime, but that certain information re shipping charges to London for a vessel from either Wellington or Wanganui for a cargo of wheat should .be obtained and submitted to another meeting ot farmers on Saturday, May igth. It was decided to ascertain from the Railway Department in regard to se- j curing the necessary trucks for railing | grain to Wanganui or VVellington for shipment.. The chairman also agreed to seek information regarding prices from Christchurch, and also of shipping oats to South Africa.

The following^resolution was passed : " That this meeting of farmers urges on all grain growers of this district the necessity of holding their ; grain in preference to taking present prices."

The meeting terminated with a hearty vote of thanks to the chair.— Advocate.
