Cronje's Arrival at Capetown.
Cronje arrived at ihe railway station here at an early hour (writes the correspondent ot the Christchurch Press on March 6th with reference to the captured general's entrance into the capital). A strong military force was drawn up at the station, although there was no necessity for. any great efforts to preserve order, the Boer commander and his party being received in absolute sHence. General Cronje wore a long grey waterproof coat reaching down nearly to his ankles, and a slouch hat of a drab colour, with the brim turned down. He was closely muffled up, and as he walked down the platform looked straight before him. taking no notice of the guard, which simply stood to arms with bayonets fixed. Mrs Cronje is a woman of medium height, and as she followed her husband down the platform looked exceedingly thin and careworn. Cronje's son, a tall, lanky Soung fellow, followed his parents own the platform. On the departure side of the platform another special train was in readiness, on board of which, after a brief halt had been made for refreshments, the party embarked, en route for Simons Town t>espite the early hour of the arrival of the Boer commandant, there was a fair crowd at the station, including many well-known citizens, whilst the detachment of militia on duty must numbered fully 2000. No deraonstraion of any kind occurred.
