The Swiss arbitrators have delivered their award in, the longstanding Delogoa Bay-Eaßt Africa Railway Company case. They have unanimously awarded - to America and Great Britain, for "^ division amongst the shareholders, ! the sum, of £612 560, supplementary !to the £28.000 already paid. Al'owances is also made for the pay* ment of interest sinoe 1889. The award ii considered to be *
two-thirds below expectations, and below the principle laid down in the terms of arbitration. The leading newspapers have with difficulty repressed their indigation, but have consoled Great Britain by reference to her pre-emptive right to Favourable diplomatic Action is hoped for at Lisbon, now that the annexation of the twojßoer Republics is impending. 1
