The sun's scorching ray, The tempest and storm-cloud Have all passed away. In the far distant homes, "Tears fall like rain Por those who their own lr.ua Shall ne'er see again ! But they slumber as soundly Neath Afric's bright sky As though in their Homeland With kindred near by. Where duty had called them Death was in view ! Yet quailed not, nor faltered Those brave hearts and true, l&eir lives were not surely if { aowh iit vain ;. ;. For Justice and Freedom - The viotory shall gain. ' With pride apd with sorrow, Now do we name Each of our gallant lads, Worthy of fame. Their memory we'll cherish, And history shall tell How doing their duty Our brave soldiers fell ! God comfort the mourners ! Broken in heart ; In all of war's sorrows They bear largest part. May He in His mercy Make wars to cease, O'er all earth's dominions And grant us His peace. R.D., Foxton.
