We have received from the publishers the Special War Number of the above, and fo.e conients fully bear out its title, as it has amongst the 80 illustrations a very large number relating to the war. Our friend Stead has had but little to do with the compilation of this nurabe?, he, with his pro-Boer sympathy has wißely entrusted the Character S ! :e!rli to the able hands of the Australasian Editor, the Kev. W. H. Filchett, who supplies a capital study of the two great soldiers, Roberts and Kitchener. There is no doubt but that Mr Fitchett is as ardent a Briton as breathes, and his tales of " Deeds that won the Empire " are some of the best we have, read for many a day. There is now nothing that causes so much interest as the great struggle now going on in South Africa, and we can therefore safely advise a perusal of the War nrmber.
