Canterbury Jubilee Industrial Exhibition.
■ • %- Mr Robert Allan, Presideni^Ms issued a prospectus which has the following precis of the objects of the Exhibition :—
The Canterbury Industrial Association, purpose celebrating tho Fiftieth Anniversary of the settlement of the Provincial District of Canterbury by holding, in the CijQl | Christchuroh, an Exhibition ofme Arts, Industries, Resources and Productions of New Zealand.
The last Exhibition of the Association was held in 1894, but, as many great improvements have since been made in most branches of industry, and so many new enterprises introduced, it is generally recognised that Ihe occasion willl bo a most suitable time to practic»% ; illustrate the great strides the nuuiu- | f^turingmterestshaveniadethroiigli- j out the Colony, by giving eneourfcge* j memVto all classes of industry, ami | inter-colonial commerce. ;
The Executive invite exhibits of ! all kinds from every district in fchffl Colony, including Works of Art, i Educational, Scientific and Machinery Exhibits. Special induce, xnents will be offered for the exhibition of process of manufacture.
In inviting manufacturers and others to become exhibitors, the Executive desire to point oat that., the date fixad will not only suitably commemorate the first settlement ox the Provincial District, b]^ witt secure trad be an additional attfcaefcioß. to the large number of visitors toneing throughout the Colony at the time, and particularly the thousand who will visit Christchurch from all parts of the Colony during itn recognised Carnival Week in November, which will includ^jjjJie Premier Agricultural and Pastoral Show of New Zealand, and the Spa-ing Meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club.
A further additional attraction will be the Inauguration of the iplloultural and Industrial* Hall, now in course of erection — the Exhibition being held on the grounds, and connected with the Hall, situate in the •nost central part of the City, within one minute's walk of the Cathediwilr The Industrial Corporation of New * Zealand, with which the Association is affiliated, has offered its heartiest support to the undertaking, and this, coupled with the generous assistance of the New Zealand Government, leads the Executive to believe that their efforts will be supported heartily by all interested, and that the Jubilee Exhibition of Canterbury will far outshine their previous successful efforts to foster and encourage Jill* industries and productions of jL<P Zealand.
