Patriotic Concert.

On Wednesday next there will be given by men to whom all credit is due, a concert in aid of the Patriotic .; Fund. They trust their efforts will realise more than their simple contributions, though to secure a good entertainment they have had to put their hands into their pockets lor various expenses, such as a musician and wardrobes. TJhe hall has been given free by Mr Ali Praser, and tim> -. [ printing and advertising is also a donation from the ManawaTu Herald office, so that what is wanted to make the affair a giant success is the rolling-up of the public so as to make an over-flow house. "*

The entertainment, is a varied one, there being singing, in which the Misses Collins and Mills very oblig' ingly take part, and there will be - step-dancing, instrumental music, as well as a stump speech. The whole programme is published elsewhere, and the items can be criticised. Mr Alf Fraser is stage manager. We are asked to mention that the date was fixed for Wednesday in ignorance of its being Ask Wednesday, and an attempt was i^ade to alter the date, but communication between the scattered performers prevented another date being settied. Tickets are on sale, and it ishopecF the accidental decision to hold the entertainment on Wednesday wiU^p** interfere with its success. The j^KsS* is a good one, which should D^ sufficient to cover a multitude of sins,. . After the performance a.dance t^iH follow. . V
