TELEGRAM TO LORD ROBERTS* His Excellency the Governor has sent the following cable to Lord Roberts : — " The people of New Zealand offer very hearty congratulations on the relief of Kimberley." The Governor has received the following from Lord Roberts, dated Jacobsdal, 18th February:— " Please Ur accept yourself arid offer the New Zealand people the warmest thanks of myself and the army in South Africa tor tKeir kind congratulatory telegram. The New Zealand Contingent has already done splendid work.. I could not wish for better soldiers, and the additional force New Zealand is sending will be most warmly welcomed.— > Roberts." , FIGHTING AT RENSBURG. The fighting which took place at Rensburg, a place between Arundel and the Free State, on Monday was fierce and determined. 4,000 Boers attacked a hill defended , by the Worcester Regiment and were badly repnlsed, losing at least one hundred killed. Ultimately the Boers occupied Rensburg. Two of the cocjpanfes !tof the Wiltshire Regiment holding a post in the vicinity of Rensburg were forgotten when the British retired to Arund^L^ and were captured. GALLANT FIGHT BY COLONIALS. Colonel Hannay's^ Brigade of colonials, while following Major-Genecai Kelly-Kenny's earlier movements, engaged 500 Boers. The fighting lasting throughout Sunday. At the last the enemy retired. WHITE FLAG AGAIN ABUSER At night fall, abusing the white flag, lfl the Boers captured a water party of 10 men. • KENNY REINFORCED. The Highland Brigade has reinforced Lieut.-General Kelly-Kenny. brilliantcolonial<:harge. The colonials made a brifiiant charge at Dordrecht, in the north-eastern part of Cape Colony, on Friday night. , ft The Boers fled before the charge. GENERAL BULLER. General Buller is threatening the Boers' position at Inhalwe Hill. There is considerable movement o£~yr Boers northward of Ladysmith, sup- f posed to be the result of Lord Roberts' invasion of the Free State. GUARDS OCCUPY CRONJE'S POSITION. The Guards Brigade is encamped in the position evacuated by Commandant Crooje at Magersfontein.
