(From our own correspondent.) ' On Friday the Taikorea School held heir annual picnic on the cricket ground. It proved a great success, ooth children and parents turning out in full force. Gray; Stanlard 11, xst Patrick Desmond, 2nd laggie Ewart; Standard I, David lathers. Mr Park's special prizes for popularity were voted by ballot to finnic Desmond and James Hehir. The teacher's special prize for reguir attendance was awarded to Martin Desmond. This boy has nearly six oiles to come and has won this prize wice — not having missed once cWHng he year. After the prizes wetpgiven >ut the children attending the'scbool presented the teacher, Mr Stansell. vith a very handsome/teapot, as a 'nark of appreciation for his efforts. Cheers were then given for Mr Stansell, Mr Boswell, the ladies (Mesdames <

Boswell, Desmond, Hehir, O'jGrady and I Sexton, and the Misses Knight and ' Mathers), for providing the food, Mr Duncan for taking the photographs, and the Committee. The rest of the time was taken up in games.
